CLICKER TRAINING FOR DOGS

 

WHAT IS CLICKER TRAINING: Clicker Training is a fun and exciting way of communicating with and training your dog. This type of training has been successfully used for years with marine mammals, research animals and with animals used for TV sitcoms, commercials and movies. This positive, science based method of training has only recently taken the dog world by storm. Clicker Training is based on the behavioral theory called "Operant Conditioning". Positive reinforcement is used to strengthen desired behaviors. Simply put, clicker training uses a distinct marker signal-a metal and plastic clicker-to mark a desired behavior. The clicker sound or marker says to the dog, " YES!, that is exactly what I wanted you to do and now you will recieve a worthwhile reward. The reward motivates the dog to repeat the performance and the clicker gives the dog the information about what action the dog did that actually won the reward. Animals learn best when their own capabilities are encouraged and directed into behaviors that help them live well with humans. Clicker Trainers set their dogs up to succeed then reward them for their successes. Clicker Training is fun and easy to learn for you and your dog. It is a powerful animal training tool. Best of all the dogs love it! They have a clear understanding of what they are doing right, and they get a chance to earn rewards like food treats, favorite toys, attention and praise through their own actions. With Clicker Training you don't need choke chains or pinch collars. You and your dog work together as a team. Clicker Training allows you and your dog to clearly and positively communicate with each other.

 

DOG TRAINING CLASSES OFFERED

 

PUPPY KINDERGARTEN
Start your puppies off on the "right paw." Teach them simple behaviors, introduce them to novel stimuli and let them socialize with other puppies in a safe, supervised setting. Learn about proper play, potty training, crate training, chewing, bite inhibition and more.  Help your dog become a well adjusted member of the family. For puppies 8 weeks to 6 months old.

INTRODUCTION TO CLICKER TRAINING - BASIC OBEDIENCE

This is a beginners class designed to teach your dog the building blocks for future learning.  Learn how to implement basic obedience into your everyday life by using “clicker training”, a positive and fun method of training that produces excellent results. You will learn how to teach your dog basic obedience behavior such as: attention, sit, down, stay, recall and loose leash walking.  For puppies and dogs of all ages.
6 Week Course - $125.00

 

INTERMEDIATE OBEDIENCE

Add the "Three D's", Distance, Duration and Distraction,  to behavior learned in Basic Obedience.  Everything gets more challenging, longer stays, further distances and increased distractions.  Strengthen loose leash walking by improving communication and stop the pulling.  Fine-tune your recall over longer distances with greater distractions.  For dogs who have completed Basic Obedience.
6 Week Course - $125.00

 

CANINE GOOD CITIZEN PREP

The AKC Canine Good Citizen Program teaches good manners to dogs and responsible dog ownership to their owners.  A step above Basic Obedience, this class will teach you how to improve your dog’s sit, down, stay, loose leash walking and recall with increased distractions.  Your dog will learn how to meet a friendly stranger, walk nicely through a crowd and encounter another dog.  CGC Certification Test will be offered after the class concludes.  For those dogs who have completed Basic Obedience.
6 Week Course - $125.00

 

TRICKS & GAMES

Tricks and games are fun for both you and your dog.  This class will help improve your relationship with your dog while having fun in the process!  Each week will include 2 to 3 different activities such as: shake, high five, roll over, spin, fetch, hide and seek and find it.  For dogs who have complete Basic Obedience.  This is an on-going class that will meet once a week.  Please sign up prior to class.
$20.00 per session

 

AGILITY FOR FUN!

Reduce your dog’s excess energy by dashing through agility obstacles such as: jumps, hoops and weave poles.  Agility is a great way to help your dog overcome fears and gain confidence.  It also provides your dog with mental and physical stimulation which helps reduce destructive behaviors.  For dogs who have complete Basic Obedience.  This is an on-going class that will meet once a week.  Please sign up prior to class.
$20.00 per session
